PRODUCTION FLOW EFFICIENCY IMPROVEMENT THROUGH SOFTWARE FEEDBACK AT THE MASTER PRODUCTION SCHEDULE LEVEL

The paper presents a new approach to improvement of production flow efficiency, based on software-based feedback between operational production level and the Master Production Schedule. Such approach is particularly well suited for automotive industry, where production planning is based on the sequence of the production orders. The authors introduce a production control point block quality (PCPBQ) metric which may be applied for tracking changes occurring to the initial production sequence during production process. The PCPBQ metric is built into the PROgraph software, which is a practical tool to evaluate and visualize quality of a sequence block, as well as the blocks decomposition. Authors describe how PROgraph may be implemented in the MRP system and in the production control system structure in order to provide feedback on the production flow efficiency. The potential of PROgraph application to forecast future events while performing master production schedule is also outlined.
