IT EDUCATIONAL TOOLS (IT JIGS) FOR PRODUCTION PLANNING AND CONTROL
This paper deals with the development of an educational program for manufacturing managers in leadership roles who are making contributions toward the use of manufacturing technology for the creation of customer satisfaction above and beyond what is generally expected. The program provides participants with a clear understanding of the processes involved in creating products that meet customer needs and acquiring the ability to standardize and improve these processes while considering the cost and delivery time, which is known as process control. The IT educational tools, called “IT Jigs, were designed to help individuals involved in the planning process.The IT Jigs consist of three types of bills of materials, a layout editor, and an FMS simulator. The uses of these IT Jigs in the program and the results of trial runs conducted in 2006, 2007 and 2008 are discussed in this paper.
