A NEW SCHEDULING PARADIGM BASED ON FARSIGHTED INDICES
In this paper, we propose a new scheduling method based on Farsighted Index-based Scheduling (FIS) method which may be useful for manufacturing industries of high complexity. We group manufacturing processes into small groups so that the complexity is reduced. There are two steps in FIS method: index generation step and priority rule based scheduling step. In the first step, numerical indices related to characteristics of product, manufacturing system, production resources and costs are generated and used to define objective functions of scheduling problems. After objective functions are set, priority rule based scheduling methods are applied. These methods consist of combination of traditional dispatching rules and new priority rules according to several indices. To show the performance of the method, scheduling results are compared with job dispatching methods with traditional scheduling objective functions.
Indez-based scheduling Scheduling indez Multi-objectives Priority rule based scheduling.
