OUTSOURCING DECISION MAKING WITH INCONSUMMATE AND INCOMPLETE INFORMATION: A FRAMEWORK
The decision to outsource an activity or a part of an activity is one of the most complex decisions facing todays managers. It is characteristic of the stages of design; engineering and manufacturing that these stages encircle different levels of details at different levels of aggregation and reliability. Several models have been developed to assist outsourcing decision making assuming that information is rigid and available at the initial stage. The primary purpose of the paper is to review and analyse some of these models and propose a new outsourcing decision making framework incorporating the role incomplete and inaccurate transformation of information during different stages might play in outsourcing decisions.
