EVALUATING KEY FACTORS AND METHODS OF BUSINESS UNIT PERFORMANCE

Every process, business unit and company is enforced to evaluating ones performance. But it is usual that there is no unique objective measure and value. Output is key factor of evaluation. But inputs can not be neglected if they are rear and cost expending one. Many business units are evaluated by the balance of outputs and inputs. Productivity is a common and measurable index of performance. And DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) is another method of evaluating performance. Hence there are many variations about outputs and inputs and methodologies of comparison between different business units and times. This study is evaluating performance measures and methodologies. The main points are how to combine the factor of input and how to evaluate output values. And business unit performance structure would be measured under the structure of the objectives. The scheme is applied for main corporations in products retail industry of Japan.
