IN MEMORY OF PROFESSOR EZEY DAR-EL: A MAIN PILLAR OF PRODUCTION RESEARCH AND A DEDICATED IFPR MEMBER

This short summary attempts to portray the immense contribution of Professor Ezey Dar-El: a main pillar of the IFPR and a giant in production research. His significant work and innovations in production research, industrial engineering and management and his numerous professional contributions and publications, including a classic book on human learning, have left IFPR members, production researchers, and his many students a tremendous legacy. Professor Ezey Dar-El brought to IFPR board meetings a wise and generous style spiced with friendly humor. His great leadership in organizing the ICPR-13 in Jerusalem (1995) has been memorable and inspiring. As a lecturer his eloquent talks always left a deep impression on the audience. As a researcher he left an impressive trail of significant papers on the core subjects of production research. Professor Ezey Dar-El passed away on February 27, 2009, as a result of medical complications (that followed an open-heart operation). Those who knew him were fortunate to have Ezey as a friend and leader for many years; for those who did not know him - this summary gives a taste of his achievements and personality and some of his legacy.
