Continual Learning in and through the Job

Ezey Dar-Els academic work mainly focuses on the aspects of learning. This can be seen in his biography, personal development and in addition to that in his academic work. The aim of this paper is to present a research project, which agrees with Ezeys point of view in its basic arguments. A working group of companies of the industrial sector and scientific departments (Fraunhofer-Institute for Industrial Engineering, Transferzentrum für Neurowissenschaften und Lernen) try to answer the question: How does a production system has to be designed in order to enable and maintain learning in and through the job. The question must be answered as we are faced with the problem of an aging society. The basic thesis of the research group is that learning and working has to be combined for the individual if an organisation desires a lasting innovation and productivity. The article presents the aims of the research group and the theoretical background the project is based on. Furthermore, first results are included in the paper.
