MEASUREMENT AND ANALYSIS ON PERCEPTIONAL BEHAVIOR OF DRIVER BY VIRTUAL ENVIRONMENT
The aim of this work is to discuss the potentiality of the human information processing model (HIP model) and its application to human reliability analysis model (HRA model) in a man-machine system. The automobile driving simulator was used by closely approximating vehicle dynamics in real world situations to provide driving trainees with instruction in safe driving techniques. In this study reliability and safety are discussed from the view points of human perception and cognition. To clarify the relationship among some effective factors and situational driving safety, a new experimental paradigm was developed using a driving simulator. From these experimental results, a method of measuring the skill of driver by the statistical analysis of perception and cognition is proposed.
