IMPROVING BILLING PROCESS AT A PRIVATE CLINIC
Improving costs behavior and efficiency levels in health care systems can be considered one of the most important challenges for a manager. Most papers had worked in patients′ flow or resources optimization by using mathematical models, mostly focus on care optimization and this work has been called hospital logistic. In the other hand, operative and administrative costs are nearly 33% of the total budget in Colombian hospitals, so those efficiency efforts must include support areas. In this work we studied billing process at a private clinic, where delays has represented cash flow alterations, by making an analogy with a production line. First, we model billing process as a production line, determining its bottleneck activity; next, we found the mainly nonconformity characteristics in final product and then, we calculate quality measures at every work station. Different scenarios were proposed in order to improve information flow and optimize resources capacity and distribution.
