THE IMPACT OF JUST-IN-TIME ON REVERSE LOGISTICS

Reverse logistics has attracted many organisations attention in recent years, partly because of the increasing environmental concerns. Nevertheless, reducing cost and increasing efficiency have become primary issues when implementing such systems. These criteria coincide with the Just-in-time (JIT) philosophy, which has been proven successful in achieving the aforementioned objectives. It interesting to investigate the impacts of integrating JIT philosophy with reverse logistic systems. In this connection, this paper aims to propose a framework for integrating these two concepts. Different functions have been identified, namely, inventory control, capacity allocation, network configuration, transportation planning, produce life cycle, and system establishment. In short, JIT can improve efficiency and can reduce the operating cost of reverse activities through collaboration of different core business activities.
