PETRI NETS MODEL FOR THE LOGISTIC OF A MANUFACTURING COMPANY.

This paper presents the design of a simulation model for the logistics chain of a paper manufacturing company by using Petri networks. Its purpose is to analyze the behaviour of the stages of reception, planning, storage and delivery of orders to customers, defining operating policies and strategies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the logistics chain by adding value to customers. The methodology used is based on concepts of modelling and simulation with Petri networks of hierarchical, temporized and coloured kinds, including Montecarlo method. The results delivered by the simulation model are validated with actual data from finished products flows, product types, stored tonnage, customers and transfers. The analysis of the model is done on different scenarios by varying input parameters such as permanencies of the customers orders. From the different scenarios considered, strategies to reduce inefficiencies and add value to the company and its customers are proposed.
