NONLINEAR AND CHAOTIC BEHAVIOR OF CONSTRAINED SUPPLY CHAINS
Numerous linear assumptions in supply chain models has limited the applicability of both the model and the analyzing results, and thus incurred lots of criticism. On the other side, nonlinear constraints and behavior of supply chain inventory systems are often ignored. A constrained supply chain dynamic model was established based on control engineering, using Beer Game model to describe the production/inventory control process of each member. Various constraints were embedded into the model. Simulation experiments were used to examine the stability of the system with given parameter settings. System oscillation and chaos behavior was analyzed by time series analysis and phase space analysis.
