A SINGLE-ITEM INVENTORY MODEL WITH A DUAL SOURCING POLICY AND STOCHASTIC PROCUREMENT LEAD TIMES

This paper deals with a continuous review inventory replenishment policy, named DUAL, with two different sourcing options, i.e. two suppliers. In the considered situation each order is split between the two sourcing sources characterized by different procurement lead times. The arrivals of customers orders demand is supposed to be deterministic while the procurement lead times from suppliers are supposed to be stochastic. In this environment stochastic order crossover between the two sources may happen and therefore considerably complicate the inventory policy parameters optimization. The pooling lead-time effect by splitting replenishment orders simultaneously among the two suppliers is studied on the basic idea of computing the superimposition between the two procurement lead times distributions The cost structure considered consists of setup costs, holding costs, and backorder costs.
