A STUDY ON AUTONOMOUS DISTRBUTED OPERATION OF FMS FOR SMALL PARTS PRODUCTION
In this study, the efficient operation of an FMS with a single automated vehicle such as a rail guided vehicle is reconsidered in order to cope with the dynamically changing market demands. New operational procedures based on auction are proposed and the effectiveness is investigated by simulation. Searching orders of areas requesting transportation are firstly investigated for the next operation of RGV, revealing that the order has less effect on the system performance. When more than one candidate jobs exist in the area, auction based procedure is applied to select a job to process. For the selection of to-be-processed input jobs and completed output jobs, complete set of application orders of bidding criteria are generated and evaluated by simulation. The results are analyzed in detail, yielding useful directions to form effective appliction orders to the operational environment of FMS.
