An Improved PWCS Approach on Observability Analysis of Linear Time-Varying System

The piece-wise constant system (PWCS) observability analysis approach is an efficient method of analyzing the observability of linear time-varying systems. An improved approach is proposed to makes the analytical analysis simpler by eliminating redundant computation and simplifying the analysis process. Using the improved approach, the relation between the observability and the system status can be easily identified. The improved PWCS observability approach is used to analyze the strapdown inertial navigation system rapid transfer alignment model, which is a typical time-varying system. A simulation result validates the efficiency and advantage of the improved PWCS observability approach.
