Three-Degree-Freedom Internal Model Control and its Application for Adjusting Speed Drive System of Synchronous Machine

A conventional two-degree-freedom (2DOF) Internal Model Control(IMC) cannot be applied to solve the contradiction of the load disturbance rejection performance and robustness. In order to overcome the shortcomings of it. This paper presents the three-degree-freedom(3DOF) IMC method, the input, forwardback and feedback controllers are applied respectively to regulate the output tracking, the load disturbance rejection performance and robustness of the system. The 3DOF-IMC is applied in the speed drive system of Synchronous MachineSM, the air-gap-flux & rotor speed controllers are proposed. The characteristics of 3DOF-IMC have been verified by computer simulation. Simulation results show that the output tracking, outer disturbance regulation and robustness performance of SM are regulated respectively by using controllers based on 3DOF-IMC, the proposed controllers provide very good dynamic response performances.
