Characteristic Analysis of Ultrathin Film Gas Lubrication Based on Modified Reynolds Equation in Hard Disk Drive
In this paper, the authors firstly devote to develop an improved model based on FK-Boltzmann model suitable to arbitrary Knudsen numbers. Then, an effective numerical method is proposed to calculate the modified Reynolds equation for ultra-thin gas film lubrication. Numerical analysis based on the modified Reynolds equations is performed on a typical negative pressure magnetic head slider. The numerical results show that the modified model and numerical method are valid for slider air bearing with nanometer spacing. Major performance parameters such as the gas film pressure and load carrying capacity, are gained by numerical calculation.
