Natural Color Cotton and Sustainable Development of Cotton Industry
Natural color cotton (hereinafter cited as colored cotton) is a general term for cotton growing with color. The color results from pigment sediment in differentiation and development of luminal cells in cotton fiber. With such features as featured for natural and gentle color, plainness and elegance, soft texture, warmth retention and permeability, colored cotton is a new type of raw materials for textile. Due to its environmentfriendly and healthy characteristics, it has left out the bleaching and dyeing process of cotton textile, leading to a green revolution of energy efficiency and emission reduction in cotton textile, and become a new industry in compliance with the trend to protect the ecological environment, pursue healthy life and maintain the sustainable development of cotton industry in China and in the world.
