Effect of N-terminal and C-terminal Deletion of Cry1Ie of Bacillus thuringiensis on its Ezpression and Purification
Crystal proteins are produced by the gram-positive bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) during sporulation. The cry1Ie genes were silent in Bt strains, but can be overexpressed in Escherichia coli BL21 (DE3) in inclusion bodies, and the expressed product was toxic to Plutella xylostella, Ostrinia furnacalis, and soybean pod borer (Leguminivora glycinivorella). In order to know the N-terminal and C-terminal amino acid on the structure formation of Cry1Ie protein, four deletion mutants were constructed and the expression and purification of these mutants were studied.
