A non-random gait through the human genome

With the accumulation of genomic data, it is increasingly clear that eukaryotic genes do not randomly distribute in chromosomes. In this study, we investigated the distribution of 27142 genes mapped at whole chromosomes reported in the Human Genome Data Base as of January 2007. We provide first evidence that distances of neighbour genes follow normal distribution after data transformation. Moreover, our studies first reveal that intergenic distances on every chromosome are convergent to one stationary value.
