Design and Analysis of Parallel Woven Structurebased Flezible Resistive Pressure Sensor

Flexible resistive pressure sensor woven from electrical conductive fibers in parallel connection is designed. The pressure-resistance relation of the sensor is deduced based on its electrical equivalent circuit model and physical laws. The design domains (sets of effective value) of sensor parameters, such as maximum pressure ratio, weaving parameter, number of wefts or warps, radius of fiber, are analyzed and discussed. It is concluded that design domain of the maximum pressure ratio and weaving parameter gets the maximum value when the maximum ratio of contact resistance to intrinsic resistance is less than 30 and the number of wefts and warps is greater than 35. The design domain of the number and the radius of the wefts and warps are greatly affected by resistivity.
