Effect of matured compost as a bulking agent and inoculating agent on Composting of Municipal Solid Waste
The objectives of the study were to study effect of matured compost as a bulking agent and inoculating agent on composting of municipal solid waste. The municipal solid and waste matured compost were mixed with raw at 4:1 ratio (v:v) and then composted together. The matured compost could give a quick start-up for composting. Correspondingly, after adding the matured compost, the oxygen consumption rate was high at the early stage, the pH changed a little because that the matured compost contained stable matter. And the moisture content decreased quickly due to the high temperature brought by matured compost. At the same time, the organic matter also was degraded fast due to the addition of the matured compost. The results showed that the matured compost could short the period of the composting. The quantities of the fungi and actinomycosis increased obviously at the beginning, which indicated that the matured compost had the effect of inoculation.
