Laboratory Study on Effect of White-Mud Desulfurization Sea-Water to Alga
White mud is the main solid waste of ammonia-soda process, and is industrialized recycled in stack gas desulfurization in Qingdao. During the de-sulfurization process, the solid state white mud transformed into liquid state, which is called white mud desulfurated water. The desulfurated seawater dissolved the pollutants of white mud and stacked gas, whether the recycle of solid waste threat new risk to environment is not clear. Alga is the primary producer of marine ecosystem, if the desulfurated seawater has effects on the dominant algae of the system, it may lead to eco-risk to the system. In order to make clear if desulfurated water can effect the growth of algae, in the paper, four representative algae are selected, which are Gymnodinium sp., Isochrysis galbana, Phaeodactylum tricornutnm and Skeletoneama costatuma. The desulfurated seawater was mixed with natural seawater in different percentage, which acts as the culture liquid of the alga. The results of the experiment show that desulfurated water is inhibiting to Gymnodinium sp., and can promote the growth of Isochrysis galbana, Phaeodactylum tricornutnm and Skeletoneama costatuma. The eco-risk of white mud desulfurated water should further studied.
