Study on methane conversion to synthesis gas over nano Pt/MgO catalysts Ⅱ. Characterization of Pt-IV Catalysts

A series nanometer Pt/MgO (Pt-IV) catalysts with different Pt loading were prepared by using impregnation method. A lot of techniques (BET, XRD, TPR, TEM, and so on) were used to characterize the physico-chemical properties of the catalysts. CO2 reforming of methane to synthesis gas was carried out to test the catalytic activity. The results show that the loading of Pt has little influence on the texture and surface property. The dispersed Pt is in metallic state and is very stable when the catalysts were calcined at higher temperature. The particle size of dispersed Pt is about 2 nm. The calcination temperature influences the structure of the support, and the agglomeration of MgO particles takes place during the higher temperature calcination. The Pt-Ⅳ catalysts have very high activity for carbon dioxide reforming of CH4 to synthesis gas, especially at high Pt loaing.
