Analysis of Microbial C ommunity in vermifiltration by PCR-SSCP Method
Single-strand conformation polymorphism (SSCP) method was performed to investigate the microbial community in vermifiltration. Vermifiltration was a newly ecological and high efficient process to treat sewage and sludge synchronously. The experimental results indicated that PCR-SSCP can more truly reflect the existing system of micro-organisms groups. Bacillus, the dominant populations, in the vermifiltration with a percentage of 40% is an antagonistic and functional bacterium, and crucial to the treatment efficacy of vermifiltration. Additionally, the positive correlation between earthworms density and Shannon-wiener index, and the organics removal were existed. Consequently, it can be concluded that the introduction of earthworm was beneficial to the improvement of the bacteria community structure and the removal of the organic pollutants.
