Bench-scale Study of an ASBBR Combined with Post Ecological Pond for Small-sized Domestic Sewage Treatment
Water pollution in rural areas or small cities has been a key environmental problem in China. Limited by underdeveloped economy and poor technical capacity, costeffective and easily operable treatment technologies are highly needed at present, especially for Chinas western small mountain cities and/or rural areas. An Anaerobic Sequencing Batch Biofilm Reactor (ASBBR) was developed and a bench-scale study on its performance was conducted for domestic sewage treatment. The impacts of start-up of reactor, biofilm density and organic loadings on the performance are investigated. The results show that: 1) concentration of seeding sludge has no significant effects on the ASBBR start-up; 2) under the operation condition of 25℃ temperature, 70% biofilm density, 24hrs HRT and 0.16kgCOD/ (m3·d) organic loading rate, the effluent COD can be treated to 116mg/L with a removal efficiency of 64%, which is compliant with the third class effluent standard for municipal wastewater treatment plant (GB18918-2002) of China.
