The Effect of Aqueous solubility on the Biodegradation of typical Pollutants in Coke Plant Wastewater

Aqueous solubility are key attribute of pollutants. Typical pollutants in coke plant have different aqueous solubility. However, the aqueous solubility of pollutants effect on the biodegradation during the A1-A2-O System is unclear. We compared the biodegradation of typical pollutants-pyridine, 2-methylpyridine, and quinoline with different aqueous solubility in coke plant used as the sole carbon source under anaerobic, anoxic and oxic process and used as the mixed carbon source in Anaerobic-anoxic-oxic(A1-A2-O) system. The typical pollutants used as the sole carbon source under anaerobic, anoxic and oxic process show that anoxic process was good at removal typical pollutants; however, it has little action to removal the typical pollutants in the A1-A2-O system. The result of A1-A2-O system shows that different aqueous solubility of pollutants caused the pollutants adsorption on the sludge. It decrease other pollutants contact with sludge. The biodegradation of pollutant with good aqueous solubility were affected by the pollutants with poor aqueous solubility.
