Treatment of Landfill Leachate by Combined Photoozidation and Biological Anaerobic-aerobic Method
The treatment of landfill leachate by combined photooxidation and biological anaerobic-aerobic method was investigated in this study. The effect of treating the landfill leachate with several single photochemical processes was examined and a comparison was made on the effect of treating the leachate with two integrated photochemical-biochemical processes in this experiment. Among such several processes as UV+ Fe3+, Fe3++C2O4 2-+UV, Fe3++H2O2+ Na2C2O4+UV and Fe3++ H2O2+UV, photo-Fenton process gave the highest COD removal rate of 65%. Among these two integrated photochemical-biochemical processes, the process of coagulation + photochemical treatment + anaerobic treatment + aerobic treatment gave a higher rate of COD removal as compared with the process of anaerobic treatment + aerobic treatment + coagulation + photochemical treatment, the rate of COD removal of the former amounting up to 94.8%.
