Treatment of Nisin Fermentation Wastewater by Fenton Ozidation Process
Chemical treatment of nisin fermentation wastewater (NFW) by Fenton oxidation (FO) process was studied. The influences of H2O2/COD ratio (w/w), Fe2+/H2O2 molar ratio, pH, temperature and reaction time were experimentally studied in a batch reactor. The optimal operating conditions for Fenton process were found to be at H2O2/COD ratio (w/w) of 2.0, Fe2+/H2O2 molar ratio of 0.15, pH of 3.5, temperature of 30 °C and reaction time of 90 minutes. The system was reevaluated under the optimal conditions, the results showed that the COD removal is 72.6%, biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) removal is 47.9%, and color removal is 97.8%.
