Removal of Bromate by Ferrous Sulfate Reduction in Drinking Water
Removal of bromate by ferrous sulfate reduction was studied using water plant filter effluent spiked with bromate. Effects of FeSO4 dosage, reaction time, pH and DO concentration on bromate reduction were investigated. Removal of residue total iron by GAC was also studied. Results showed that, when initial bromate concentration is about 25μg/L, pH is 7.2, DO concentration is 2.3mg/L, temperature is (25±1)℃, the concentration of bromate can be reduced to 8.6μg/L at FeSO4 dosage of 20mg/L, which is satisfying with the water quality standard. The GAC filter has a high effect on the total irons removal. The concentration of total iron can be reduced from 7.4mg/L to less than 0.3mg/L by 1m high GAC filter column with a EBCT of 20min.
