Alleviate Effects of Lanthanum on stress induced by cadmium on Carassius auratus
Impact on liver tissue of Carassius auratus by 0.5 mg/L-1 cadmium with additional 0.25, 0.5 and 1.0 mg/L-1 lanthanum was measured by ROS content, MDA content and Fourier Transform infrared spectrum analysis. The results showed 0.5 and 1.0 mg/L-1 lanthanum could alleviate cadmium stress by eliminate excessive ROS and MDA within 1-3 days, and 1.0 mg/L-1 lanthanum could decrease these two value to nearly normal level, showing the best effect. The Fourier transform infrared spectrum analysis showed under 0.5 mg/L-1 cadmium stress, protein structure composing was changed, the percent of α-Helix structure increased and the location of peaks included in Amide I regions shifted to lower wave numbers. Different lanthanum solutions, especially 1.0 mg/L-1 lanthanum could largely restore the protein structure disorder phenomena, which return shift peak location to normal direction and increased lower α-Helix structure percent. The influences of cadmium and lanthanum on lipid and nucleic metabolism were studied, the results showed lipid metabolism was vulnerable to cadmium stress, and both tested lanthanum solutions could recover the peak location shift and peak area increasing phenomena induced by 0.5 mg/L-1 cadmium stress, while no obviously influence was detected in nucleic metabolism under cadmium stress and lanthanum treatment conditions. The results showed FTIR was a sensitive method to study fish cadmium resistance physiology.
