Cambridge Reform in Social Transformation
University, as an integral part of society, when the background of the times in which great changes took place, how to deal with, stick to the traditional or a positive response? This is the most important tops of the higher education history in various countries. It not only has a great effect on social transformation, but also plays a vital role of the university itself. Cambridge University, a very old and famous traditional school which is built in the middle age of the Europe, during the hundred years, was able to overcome the difficulties and resistance, dominating the world famous universities. And when the United Kingdom faced with the transformation from the agricultural society to industrial society in the 19th century, it gave the Cambridge miracle response to the success. Its successful experience in the world is worth asking and exploring. In this paper, the author chose the 19th century British social transformation as the background, focusing on analysis of the ancient glory of Cambridge, decline and innovation, as well as through the revival of the reform making the importance of science. And it may provide some useful information to help Chinas colleges and universities.
