Analysis on the Cognitive Process and Teaching Modes of College English Teaching Based on the Multimedia

Through analysis of the current teaching modes of college English based on multimedia, this paper gives a comprehensive appraisal and analysis on the problems, cognitive processes in multimedia learning and the ways to combination of multimedia and other factors. It arrives at the conclusion that only the proper and elaborated use of multimedia in college English teaching can really stimulate the interests of students; send them to an ideal state of learning, while at the same time reducing the intrinsic cognitive load and extraneous cognitive load, increasing the germane cognitive load. English teachers have to tackle lots of problems in the design of courseware and classroom teaching, with an intense view to the cognitive load, before they can catch up with the modern trend of English teaching.
