Research on College Students Personal Characteristic and Psychological Problems
Objective: To explore the relation between personal characteristic and psychological problems of freshmen in local polytechnic colleges. Methods: Through adopting Cattells 16 Personality Factor Questionnaire (16PF) and Symptom Checklist 90(SCL-90) to test 646 freshmen from 2007 grade. Results: (l) Scores in A, F, I, K, L,0 factor that liberal arts students got were higher than that engineering students got. But scores in C, G factor that liberal arts students got were lower than that engineering students got. (2)Scores in A, F, I, K, L factor that liberal arts students got were higher than that science students got. (3)There was significant difference in phobia anxiety, additional items between students of different disciplines. (4) In the 16 character traits, in addition to factor B, K, Ql, the others were basically significantly related to the mental health indicators. Conclusion: Personal characteristic was closely related to psychological problems. We must carry out targeted guidance and education because there was significant difference in personality characteristics between students of different disciplines.
