Study on University Teachers Professional Development and Its Independent Realization Approaches
The professional development of university teachers has become a public focus nowadays. From the aspects of the roles that the teachers play and their professional features, the connotation of university teachers professional improvement includes the professional knowledge, skills, ability and quality required in their teaching, research and social services. With the present professional development of university teachers in China, there are mainly two modes, namely, independent realization and university stimulation. For university teachers, the basic approach of their professional development is individual independent development. There are mainly four approaches of the independent realization of university teachers professional development, namely, developing awareness of independent professional development to have professional goals; participating in job training to become a skilled master; reflecting on their teaching to be a reflective practitioner and undertaking ones own university-based teaching and research to become a researching practitioner.
