Reform and International Reference for the Admission Mode of Doctoral Candidates in China
Traditional entrance examination for doctoral candidates has exposed many disadvantages and become more and more unsuitable for selection and cultivation of innovative talents. Based on our national situation and current status of doctoral education, the Author holds that it is inadvisable to fully copy European mode or U.S. mode to conduct reform. However, it is imperative to draw reference from advantages of foreign admission mode of doctoral candidates and summarize successful reform experience available in some universities and then extend across the whole country. It is necessary to reform and innovate upon selection mechanism of doctoral candidates and adhere to the selection-elimination mechanism centered on overall quality and research capacity in compliance with the selection principle of quality the supreme and capacity the first.
