Research on Data Processing for Weight-in-motion of Vehicles

A new method based on combination of the empirical mode decomposition (EMD) method with nonlinear curve fitting method is proposed for weight-in-motion of vehicles to improve the precision of weight-in-motion (WIM) due to vibration from dynamic load. The analysis shows the proposed method can effectively reduce the impact of low frequency load. The feasibility and effective of the proposed method in data processing of weight-in-motion of vehicles is shown by simulation and on-site experiment. The maximal deviation is less than 5% when the vehicle velocity is under 40km/h.
