Tunable Y-shaped Waveguides in Two-dimensional Photonic Crystals
We utilize the mode-gap effect to design a tunable Y-shaped waveguide in the two-dimensional photonic crystal consisted of air holes infiltrated with polyaniline type elec-trorheological fluids in triangular lattices. By applying the electric field in the specific region, the refractive index of the fluids can be alternated to induce the mode-gap effect and the propagation of light in each arm of the Y-shaped waveguide is demonstrated to be controllable.
