Design of Multi-Band Dual-Polarized Two-Port E-shape Microstrip Antenna
In this paper, a novel compact size E-shape microstrip single-layer patch antenna is designed, analyzed, and fabricated for multi-band wireless applications. This E-shape antenna is designed to operate at three sub-bands, namely 5 GHZ, 10 GHz and 20 GHz with about 8% bandwidth at each frequency. It has two ports excited with microstrip line feed mechanism. The physical parameters of the novel structure as well as its partial ground plane are analyzed, and optimized using commercial 3D electromagnetic simulation packages. Return loss at both ports (S11, S22), voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR), and isolation between ports (S21) are carried out. Measurements are in good agreement with simulated results, which validates the design strategy and the proposed structure. Therefore, the proposed antenna is very promising for various modern communication applications.
