Reflection Cancellation from High Speed Transmission Line

An IO driver architecture is presented here to compensate scattering in high speed transmission line circuits. In this methodology a system is calibrated initially to measure system response to a step or a lone pulse. The IO driver is then programmed to generate measured pulses at designated interval to compensate scattering responses due to impedance mismatch in the sys-tem transmission line. The compensation is done for every single bit or pulse transmitted from the driver end to eliminate sustained reflections and resonances. This methodology is demonstrated with high speed design tool. The architecture of the driver and calibration methodology is also outlined.
