Single Scattering Properties of Ice Particles in mm/sub-mm Waveband: Effects of Refractive Indez and Shapes

The effects of refractive index and shape on single scattering properties of ice particles are investigated in this paper. Mie theory is employed to simulate the effects of refractive index for ice spherical particles in the mm/sub-mm waveband. Mean deviations of scattering properties, caused by uncertainties in the real part and the imaginary part of refractive index, are calculated respectively. The discrete dipole approximation (DDA) method is used to calculate the scattering properties of bullets and Koch-fractals of the first generation.
