The Study of Distributed Multi-Area State Estimation Algorithm

Along with the expansion of power system, the problems of large matrix dimension become serious in traditional centralized state estimation algorithm. This article introduces a kind of distributed and optimal state estimation algorithm which based on multiple areas to deal with these problems. The paper proposed a distributed parallel algorithm for multi-area state estimation which greatly reduces calculating time and improves the numerical precision. At the same time, partitioning approach for an entire system and reference angle definition for different area are analyzed. The multi-area algorithm is simulated in MPI environment, and the simulating results show that the distributed state estimation algorithm is successful to compare with centralized state estimation.
