Analysis on The Electric Field Distortion Caused by Water Droplet on The Composite Iinsolator Surface

In this paper, based on the single droplet model, the space distribution of electric field around the water droplet was firstly analyzed by using the finite element method. Then, the influences of the volume of water droplet, the contact angle of water droplet, the bottom area of water droplet were analyzed. Especially, the effect of environment temperature was also considered. The calculation results from the three dimensional model of the single droplet show the largest value of the enhanced electric field occurs near the combination place of water droplet, air and silicone rubber material, along the direction of applied electric field. When the volume of water droplet remains constant, with the increase of the bottom area of water droplet, the contact angle of water droplet decreases, the maximum value of the enhanced electric field near water droplet firstly increases and then decreases and it is an interesting find that the extremum occurs between 600 and 900.When the bottom area of water droplet remains constant, with the increase of the volume of water droplet, the contact angle of water droplet increases, the maximum value of the enhanced electric field near water droplet firstly increases and then decreases and the extremum also occurs between 600 and 900.When the contact angle of water droplet remains 900, with the increase of temperature from 0°C to 35°C, the maximum value of the enhanced electric field decreases lineally and slowly. This result shows that low temperature makes the distortion of electric field a little stronger.
