An Intelligent Voltage Control Approach for Distribution Networks

The proliferation of distributed generation (DG) on electricity distribution networks results in a number of adverse impacts, including voltage variation, degraded protection, altered transient stability, bi-directional power flow and increased fault level. Controlling network voltages, while also providing adequate DG access, represents one of the most important challenges. A case based reasoning (CBR) approach to voltage control is described in this paper. The simulation results are presented to evaluate the efficacy of this approach.
