A Simple MAC Protocol for Optimal Partner Selection in Distributed Wireless Networks
Partner selection in Cooperative wireless networks has gained much attention recently. A simple distributed protocol, which means all relay nodes can individually and independently make the decision on whom to assist, has been presented by Bletsas (2006). This protocol is just based on instantaneous channel conditions and the topology information of the network is not needed. This paper is motivated by that and a simple improved MAC protocol for partner selection is proposed. The proposed protocol can minimize the outage probability, thus, it is optimal. Moreover, the overall overhead involved in selecting the partner is low. The performance of the proposed protocol is better than that of the protocol proposed by Bletsas.
