Development of Recycling Catalytic Asymmetric Transfer Hydrogenation System in Ionic Liquid

1.Introduction Catalytic asymmetric transfer hydrogenation (CATH),in particular using the chiral ruthenium catalyst such as 1 shown in Fig.1,has been known as a useful tool to obtain optically active secondary alcohols 3 from ketones 2 by the non-explosive HCO2H-Et3N azeotrope as a hydrogen donor (Scheme 1)1. On the other hand, imidazolium ionic liquids (Ils) such as bmimPF6 are recognized as a new class of reaction solvent and to immobilize catalysts. In this time, we planned development of recycling catalytic asymmetric transfer hydrogenation (RCATH) system in ionic liquid.
