Anion-triggered Deprotonation of Aromatic Acid for Anion Selective Recognition
1.Introduction Anions are ubiquitous in the wide fields ranging from chemistry, pharmacy, biology, and environmental science.Much effort has been done in design and syntheses of artificial anion receptors,1a-b especially for visible anion recognition.1c-c Recently,we have proposed quite a simple methodology for anion recognition using a commercially available and simple aromatic acid,4-(N,N-dimethylamino)benzoic acid (1), as a probe to prove the strategy.2 In this paper,we wish to report on anion recognition properties of 2-naphthoic acid (2) and 1-pyrenecarboxylic acid (3) being higher homologues of acid 1, and their visible spectral changes by representative anions.3
