Design,Synthesis of Cinnamic and Phosphonocinnamic Derivatives; From Inhibition of The Lignification Process Inplants to the Obtention of New Antiatherogenic Agents
1.Introduction Phenolic compounds constitute an important class of natural substances.Lignins, the second most abundant biopolymer after cellulose, are complex aromatic polymers resulting from the oxidative polymerization of hydroxycinnamoyl alcohols,i.e.,p-coumaryl,coniferyl,sinapyl alcohols.Studies on the biochemical processes affording the alcoholic monomers showed that the Cinnamoyl CoA Reductase, enzyme that transforms the cinnammoyl CoA esters to the corresponding aldehydes is the most essential step in producing lignin monomers and thus controlling the lignification process.
