Hydrogen Perozide Ozidation Coupling With Ionic Liquids Eztraction in Ultra-deep Desulfurization of Fuels
1.Introduction Oxidation-extraction desulfurization (OED) with hydrogen peroxide oxidation combined with solvent extraction is regarded as a promising strategy to achieve a low sulfur level1. Organic sulfides can be oxidized selectively to sulfoxides and sulfones, which are then removed by polar extractants. Chemical oxidation in conjunction with ionic liquids (ILs) extraction can increase the sulfur removal significantly 2,3. 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride-FeCl3 (bmimCl/FeCl3) was found exhibited high catalysis activity in the oxidization of dibenzothiophene (DBT) with H2O2 as oxidant. It can achieve 99.2% removal under room temperature in 10 minutes, which is superior to other Lewis acidic ILs.
