New Catalysts for Metathesis Degradation of Functionalized Polymers
1.Introduction Olefin metathesis has become a major synthetic tool to build up organic materials by C-C bond forming catalyses, indeed also polymers. However,in the polymer field a major industrial target is to enable reversion of such processes and degrade polymeric materials with olefinic content.Double bond containing polymers can be degraded by olefin and tailored for shorter chain lengths. Thus, degraded terminal olefms can be obtained applying Grubbs type catalysts and small olefins as terminating metathesis components.
